  • Wonderful Mass today, with Bishop Sheridan installing Fr. John Stearns as pastor!

Fr. John who took over after father Bill's passing does very long masses. We have noticed more and more parishioners leaving the mass right after they received the holy Communion. So sad to have to do this.

We joined St. Dominic Catholic Church because of the traditional Catholic values of Father Bill Carmody. Since his passing, Father John Stearns is a very different priest from any we have known in our lifetimes as Catholics. We are required to pray for "social justice", we find his homilies, and interactions with parishioners to be very condescending. He has difficulty with interpersonal relationships and seems to abhor community within "his" church. He talks down to the altar servers, ushers and other laity who volunteer their time in our church. We have decided to leave, as have so many traditional Catholic families. Please know that there are still traditional Catholic churches within this Diocese! Please take the time to seek them out and continue your love of God and our beloved Catholic Church.

  • Beautifully simple church. Stadium row seating. Many restrooms. Good sound quality. Handicapped accesable. Padded pews. View of the mountains behind altar.

  • St Dominic's is a wonderful parish with a great priest. We have not been "required" to pray for social justice issues nor have we departed in any way, shape or form from traditional Catholic Values. In fact, it would be quite the opposite. And how would any priest go about enforcing the "requirement" to pray for social justice issues? Fr. John and many others in the parish have worked together to start to heal our community that has been grieving the loss of our pastor, Fr. Bill. This grieving process is one that takes time. Fr. John is an amiable, approachable guy who makes sure to speak to as many parishioners as possible after each of the Masses and who goes out of his way to set time aside for his parishioners during the week. We have so many opportunities for people to join in on our community and Fr. John and the rest of us have worked hard to maintain and build our community. From small groups who meet twice a month, Life in the Spirit seminars, spiritual groups including one for Men, bible studies, religious education, a feast day festival that is happening in August with games, food, craft fairs, popcorn, St. Dominic's is a vibrant, devout, parish. We just had 96 newly confirmed people in the church. This does not take into account all the baptisms, weddings, first confessions, first communions. We have suffered a huge loss when our pastor, Fr. Bill died and but we are still strong, still faithful, still family, and always solidly Roman Catholic. I'm sorry that the other reviewer has left our parish and I want them to know that you will always be welcome back home with us anytime you like.
